Officers have seized more than 1,400 cannabis plants and broken up a substantial growing operation when we raided a disused church in the Lower Stoke area of Coventry yesterday.

Officers executed a drugs warrant at the former Stoke United Reform Church on Harefield Road, Coventry, at around 7.50am yesterday (Thursday 20 April).

A man who tried to leave the property via the roof was arrested after being tracked by our drones team.

Officers recovered 1,411 plants, which will now be destroyed, and dismantled thousands of pounds worth of growing equipment to ensure it can’t be used again.

A 27-year-old man has been arrested and charged.

Police said:

Every cannabis farm we destroy helps prevent a vicious circle. The plants won’t end up as street deals, the profits won’t go on to fund other crime, and they won’t ruin lives or pollute our communities.
