The suspect in the Southport stabbings has been named after restrictions were lifted
The 17-year-old boy charged with the Southport killings has been named as Axel Rudakubana after appearing in court. Two children injured in the attack have been released from hospital. The violence, including a second night of riots, was spurred by misinformation online about the suspect.
Axel Muganwa Rudakubana, 17, is charged with three counts of murder, 10 of attempted murder, and one count of possessing a bladed article. BBC
Police confirmed earlier today:
“We can confirm that a 17-year-old boy from Banks has been charged with the murders of Bebe King, Elsie Dot Stancombe, and Alice Dasilva Aguiar; 10 counts of attempted murder; and possession of a bladed article, following the tragic incident in Southport on Monday, 29 July.”
Due to legal reasons, the 17-year-old cannot be named, as he is under 18.
