19-Year-Old Arrested After Taxi Theft and Dramatic Police Chase in Birmingham

Birmingham  – A 19-year-old man was arrested in the early hours of this morning after allegedly stealing a taxi at knifepoint and leading police on a short pursuit in Hodge Hill.

West Midlands Police swiftly responded to reports of

a taxi driver being threatened by a passenger along Bromford Lane shortly after 2 a.m. The suspect then allegedly took the vehicle,

but officers—supported by the police dog unit—tracked down the stolen car near Hodge Hill Road within minutes.

After a brief foot chase, a police dog assisted in detaining the suspect.

The man was arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle, drink driving, and failing to stop for police.

He remains in custody for further questioning.

Authorities praised the rapid response, emphasising the effectiveness of coordinated efforts between officers and the K9 unit in ensuring a quick arrest.
