The International Fund for Ukraine has provided thousands of drones, missiles and radars to help Ukraine defend itself against Russia.
More than £2 billion of military support has now been secured through the UK-led fund, which supplies urgent equipment for Ukraine’s Armed Forces.
The announcement came as the Defence Secretary hosted NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, Ukraine’s Defence Minister Denys Shmyhal, and Germany’s Defence Minister Boris Pistorius at the 30th meeting of the Ukraine Defence Contact Group.
The Defence Secretary said Russia’s latest air strikes – the largest since the war began – had only made countries more united in supporting Ukraine. He urged nations to “go further and go faster” in delivering military aid.
So far, the fund has delivered over 1,000 air defence systems, more than 600 drones, electronic warfare systems, and radars. More supplies, including artillery ammunition and tactical boats, are on the way.
The UK has also pledged to fund thousands of long-range attack drones, to be built in the UK and delivered over the next year.
The International Fund for Ukraine is run by the UK Ministry of Defence with contributions from countries including Australia, Canada, Germany, and Norway.
The UK Government has committed £4.5 billion in military support to Ukraine this year – the highest level ever – saying Britain’s security “starts in Ukraine.”
