Police have seized 25 vehicles from a single road in Small Heath as part of a targeted operation against untaxed and uninsured vehicles. Officers from the Bordesley Green Neighbourhood team, working alongside the DVLA, Birmingham City Council, and the Small Heath Forum, acted on concerns raised by residents.
The enforcement took place on Camelot Way, where 25 vehicles were removed for having no tax or insurance, and a stolen vehicle was also recovered during the operation.
The initiative was part of Operation Hafren, a multi-agency crackdown on anti-social behavior and vehicle crime in the Small Heath and Bordesley Green areas. The operation, which took place on Wednesday, 29 January, included street-licensing checks on businesses and council-supported waste removal efforts.
Neighbourhood Police Chief Inspector Haroon Chughtai emphasized the importance of community engagement in tackling persistent issues.
“We know anti-social behaviour – including parking issues and dangerous vehicles – is often underreported in our communities. However, as these fantastic results demonstrate, we are working hard with our partners to tackle the issue,” he said.
The monthly Operation Hafren will continue targeting vehicle crime and anti-social behaviour across the area, with further enforcement planned in the coming weeks. Police have urged residents to continue reporting concerns to help maintain safer neighbourhoods.
