Listening to our communities and taking action on issues that matter to you is one of our priorities in the Bordesley Green area.

Thanks to your help and the work of our partners police have closed a business down that you said was causing issues in your area.

Today (15 May) officers were granted a three-month closure order on the Naseeb 24/7 store on Coventry Road.

Earlier this week (13 May) officers from the Bordesley Green neighbourhood team visited the shop after police received information that nitrous oxide, weapons and drugs were on the premises.

A search was carried out and two knives, a quantity of nitrous-oxide, 1500 illegal vapes, 2,000 counterfeit cigarettes and cash were seized.

Two men, aged 28 and 23, were arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon, possession with intent to supply drugs and abstracting electricity illegally.

A third man, aged 24, has also been arrested on the same charges. All three have been bailed while police continue our investigations.

Inspector Jonathon Beach, the local neighbourhood inspector, said: “The outcome is a combination of great community engagement, intelligence building, partnership working, reactive policing and team work.

“Today, the court has issued a three-month closure order to a 24/7 store on the Coventry Road, following the seizure of nitrous oxide, weapons, illegal vapes and counterfeit tobacco.

“This is the second store we’ve closed recently. We know this criminal activity causes harm locally and we will continue working with the community and partners to tackle it.

“We will continue working with the Birmingham East Community Safety Partnership to look at long term solutions to deter other shops undertaking similar activity, including supporting landlords renting to legitimate businesses.”
