Man arrested after pointing firearm at officers in Birmingham

A man has been arrested after pointing a suspected firearm at officers in Birmingham.

At around 4.45pm yesterday afternoon (27 June) on Briddsland Road, a man pointed a suspected air weapon towards officers and members of the public on three occasions.

On the third occasion, the man discharged the air weapon towards the street. Fortunately, no one was injured and no damage has been reported.

Firearms officer swiftly detained a man in his 60s and arrested him on suspicion of possessing a firearm with the intent to cause fear of violence.

He remains in custody for questioning.

Officers have recovered, six suspected air weapons and a suspected air rifle as our searches continue.
