Police Forces Unite to Tackle Southport Protests Amid Rising Tensions

In response to escalating protests in Southport, Merseyside Police have called in support from Greater Manchester Police, Lancashire Police, Cheshire Constabulary, and North Wales Police. Off-duty Merseyside officers have also returned to duty to assist their colleagues on the ground.

The situation intensified as several officers were injured, cars set on fire, and a shop was looted. Police are appealing for footage to aid their investigation.

Home Secretary Yvette Cooper condemned the violent attacks on police, urging respect for the ongoing investigation and praising the bravery of officers.
