Two brothers from Birmingham have been sentenced to a combined total of 14 years in prison for their involvement in supplying crack cocaine and heroin across the city. Hassan Hussain, 26, from Dassett Grove, and his younger brother Idris Hussain, 22, from Eaton Road, both pleaded guilty to conspiracy to supply drugs at Birmingham Crown Court.

Hassan was additionally convicted of driving offences and criminal damage to a police vehicle, leading to an eight-and-a-half-year sentence. His brother Idris received a five-and-a-half-year sentence, with both convictions handed down on 19th September.

The pair operated a drugs network known as the ‘Ace Line’, distributing heroin and crack cocaine within the Birmingham East area. Their method involved sending bulk text messages to advertise drugs for sale. An investigation by the County Lines Task Force was able to trace the brothers’ criminal activities between May and October 2023.

Hassan Hussain was arrested on 16th October after being stopped in a vehicle with cloned plates. He attempted to flee but was detained, and heroin and crack cocaine were found in his possession.

DC Abbie-Mae Sillitoe from the Force CID County Lines team, who led the investigation, said: “County Lines drug dealers target the most vulnerable, ruining lives and blighting communities. We are pleased the brothers are now off our streets.”

In a separate incident, another Birmingham resident, 24-year-old Silins, was arrested after seriously assaulting his partner, leaving her with a collapsed lung and fractured ribs. Despite strict bail conditions, Silins continued to harass the victim through social media. He was charged with wounding, coercive and controlling behaviour, and witness intimidation, receiving a lengthy sentence and an eight-year restraining order.

Police Investigator Kathryn Burns commended the victim’s bravery, stating: “Silins was a manipulative and violent individual. His victim’s courage ensured justice was served. We hope this encourages others in similar situations to come forward.”
