West Midlands Police have released new video footage in an urgent appeal to trace a man wanted in connection with a series of distraction burglaries targeting elderly women across Birmingham, Sandwell, and Solihull.

The suspect has been posing as a council official or water company employee, gaining access to homes by claiming he needs to check the residents’ taps. In a particularly distressing incident, an 88-year-old woman from Erdington was assaulted and is currently in hospital in a serious condition.

Despite extensive CCTV enquiries, police have yet to identify the individual involved. Authorities are urging the public to remain vigilant.

Anyone who sees the man or has any information is asked to call 999 immediately.

This ongoing investigation highlights the need for residents to exercise caution when dealing with unexpected visitors, particularly those claiming to be from official organisations.
