Detectives investigating a series of distraction burglaries across Birmingham, Sandwell, and Solihull are urgently appealing to the public for help in locating a man linked to the offences.
Police are seeking Bernard McDonagh, also known as Bernard Lovell, aged 59, who is wanted in connection with the burglaries, in which elderly women have been targeted. Posing as a council official or a water company employee, the suspect has used the ruse of needing to check household taps to gain entry into victims’ homes.
In one particularly distressing incident, an 88-year-old woman was assaulted in her Erdington home. She remains in hospital in a serious condition.
Detectives have been conducting extensive enquiries and are now appealing to anyone with information on McDonagh’s whereabouts to come forward.
