Officers in Darlaston have dismantled a suspected cannabis farm and recovered two weapons following a police operation. The incident began on Sunday, 6 October, when police responded to reports of firearms being carried by passengers in two vehicles.
Upon arrival, one of the cars attempted to flee but broke down nearby and was abandoned. Officers traced the second car to an address on Lowe Avenue, where two men were arrested, and a knife was seized.
A further search of the property revealed an imitation handgun and uncovered a cannabis factory inside. A man and a woman at the scene were arrested on suspicion of firearms possession and the cultivation of cannabis. Both have since been released on bail as investigations continue.
Officers secured the area throughout Sunday evening, ensuring the safety of the site and disposing of the illegal cannabis. Authorities emphasised that cannabis farms pose a significant risk to local communities, often using unsafe, bypassed electrics which can lead to severe fires.
Police continue to conduct regular raids on cannabis farms but urge the public to report suspicious activity to assist in disrupting such dangerous operations.
