A burglar who urinated on the kitchen floor before stealing from a Birmingham home has been sentenced to two years and five months in prison.
Nicole Sonahar, 28, forced entry into a property on Lozells Road on 17 July this year. CCTV footage captured her urinating inside the house before fleeing with a stolen bicycle.
Sonahar, of no fixed address, was arrested by neighbourhood officers just days later, and the bike was recovered. She pleaded guilty to charges of burglary and criminal damage at Birmingham Crown Court last Friday.
Police emphasised the emotional impact of burglary on victims and urged residents to take extra precautions as darker nights set in, reminding the public to secure doors and windows, use timer switches for lights, and consider smart lighting to deter criminals.
Most burglaries occur through unlocked doors and windows, so taking these simple steps can help protect homes. Authorities also encourage people to check on elderly or vulnerable neighbours and assist them with home security.
