Birmingham Crown Court has found 23-year-old Berryman guilty of three charges of attempted murder following a targeted shooting at a wake in Birmingham. The incident, which took place earlier this year, led to an intense police investigation after the getaway vehicle was found abandoned the next day, two miles from the scene in Little Francis Grove, Nechells.

After a three-week trial, the court confirmed Berryman’s role in the attack, while a second man was acquitted of attempted murder charges in a separate trial that concluded today.

In addition to attempted murder, Berryman admitted to possessing crack cocaine and cannabis with intent to supply, with over 40 wraps of drugs and digital scales discovered at his residence. He will be sentenced on 6 December.

Detective Inspector Francis Nock of the Major Crime Team highlighted the severity of the incident: “This could easily have been a triple murder. It’s only by luck that lives weren’t lost. Gun crime devastates families and spreads fear in our communities, and we’re committed to putting those involved behind bars.”
