A 22-year-old man has tragically died following a suspected drug incident at The Forum on Dale End, Birmingham. On Saturday, 26th October, emergency services responded to reports that three individuals had been taken ill at the city centre venue, reportedly after ingesting drugs.
Despite medical intervention, one young man passed away. His family has been informed and remains in contact with investigators. At the same time, the West Midlands Police work closely with His Majesty’s Coroner in Birmingham, with a post-mortem examination set to be conducted soon. Two other men, both aged 20, were also admitted to hospital but have since been discharged.
A 20-year-old male has been charged in connection with the supply of Class A drugs and appeared in Birmingham Magistrates’ Court earlier this week. In response, Birmingham City Council’s licensing sub-committee has temporarily suspended the venue’s licence due to concerns regarding inadequate security measures.
Authorities have asked the public to refrain from speculation as investigations are ongoing. Meanwhile, the police have reiterated their commitment to working with licensed venues and the wider business community to ensure public safety.
