Neighbourhood police officers in Solihull have been busy tackling a range of issues across the borough, including catching more than a dozen speeding motorists in just one day.
PCSOs from the Rurals team carried out a speedwatch operation in Chadwick End on 9 December, identifying
15 drivers exceeding the speed limit. All 15 offenders will receive warnings in the post about their driving.
The speedwatch was part of a broader series of initiatives carried out by teams across the Solihull Local Policing Area (LPA) over the past week.
In addition to road safety measures, the Rurals team seized a suspected stolen motorbike after receiving a report of it being abandoned in a local park.
The Smiths Wood and Castle Bromwich team also made a notable impact, setting up a crime prevention stall at Morrisons to engage with the public and distribute valuable advice. They seized a car found to have no valid MOT, with the driver also lacking insurance.
Meanwhile, the Chelmsley Wood team took to the town centre, distributing anti-shoplifting bells to shoppers and offering guidance on safeguarding belongings during the busy Christmas period.
The Solihull Licensing team conducted visits to various pubs, including the Centurion, where they promoted the “Ask for Angela” scheme—a discreet way for individuals to signal they feel unsafe on nights out.
Residents are encouraged to follow the Solihull LPA social media pages to stay informed about ongoing operations and community initiatives.
