Three men have been arrested overnight as part of the investigation into the murder of Raad Asmael, who was fatally shot in Edgbaston last month.
A 24-year-old man was taken into custody on suspicion of conspiracy to murder, while two other men, aged 25 and 31, were arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.
Raad Asmael, aged 27, was tragically pronounced dead on 22 November after being shot inside a car at the junction of Rotton Park Road and City Road in Edgbaston. The incident occurred just before 11pm.
Detective Chief Inspector Laura Harrison, leading the investigation, confirmed the arrests and provided an update to Raad’s grieving family.
“Our investigation is progressing, and we have updated Raad’s family with news of the arrests,” she said. “It’s still really important that we hear from anyone with information about what might have happened or why.
“We want to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time and anyone who may have dashcam footage.”
The police continue to appeal for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward to help uncover the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
Anyone with information can contact the police or provide details anonymously through Crimestoppers.
