Three teenagers have been jailed for more than 50 years in total after the fatal stabbing of 17-year-old Reuben Higgins in Marston Green.

Reuben was attacked on 29 October last year after being chased into a shop on Station Road, where he was stabbed multiple times. Despite efforts to save him, he died at the scene.

Nineteen-year-old Abdurrahman Summers was sentenced at Birmingham Crown Court on 15 September to life with a minimum of 19 years. Two other teenagers, who cannot be named due to their age, were sentenced to 15 and 17 years in youth detention.

A fourth suspect fled the country and remains wanted.

Detective Inspector Michelle Cordell, who led the investigation, described the attack as “cowardly and sickening” and said the sentences should bring some comfort to Reuben’s grieving family.

Police confirmed the search for the fourth suspect is ongoing.
