A 19-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder following the death of a woman in Oldbury in the early hours of Saturday morning.
Police were called to an address on Barncroft Road shortly after midnight on 21 December, where a woman was found unresponsive. Despite the efforts of emergency services, she was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
The man remains in police custody as detectives continue a fast-moving investigation into the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death.
Chief Inspector Imran Mirza from Sandwell Police said officers’ thoughts are with the victim’s family, who are being supported by specialist officers during this “awful time”.
He added: “This is a fast-moving investigation, and we have one person in custody for questioning. We are reviewing CCTV footage, carrying out house-to-house enquiries and examining forensic evidence. You will see more officers in the area to offer reassurance to the local community.”
Police are appealing for information and urge anyone who may have seen or heard anything to contact them by calling 101, quoting log 400 of 21 December.
