Man Arrested After Knifepoint Robbery in Birmingham City Centre

A man has been arrested after a woman was threatened with a knife and robbed in Birmingham city centre.

Police were called to Lower Trinity Street at around 1.30am on Tuesday, 24 December, following reports that a woman had her mobile phone stolen during a knifepoint robbery.

Officers arrived quickly and carried out fast enquiries in the area. A suspect was later traced in Whitmore Road.

The stolen phone was recovered, and a 26-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of robbery. He remains in police custody while officers continue questioning him.

The arrest is part of the ongoing #SaferStreetsWinter campaign, aimed at tackling crime and anti-social behaviour across the city.

Police say officers are on duty 24 hours a day to keep residents, workers and visitors to Birmingham city centre safe.
