Man named following Perry Villa Drive stabbing

The man who died after being stabbed in Perry Villa Drive on Tuesday, 2 March has been named as Marian Savu.

The 43-year-old was attacked at around 3.50am and sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

His family have paid tribute to him, saying: “He was a loving husband and the best dad for the children.”

Erlin Hasa, aged 34, of no fixed address, has been charged with murder.

He has been remanded into custody ahead of his appearance at Birmingham Crown Court tomorrow (9 March).

Two men, aged 31 and 30, who were arrested on suspicion of murder have been released on bail as our enquiry continues. A 21-year-old man, also arrested on suspicion of murder, has been released pending further investigation.

 

Detective Inspector Jim Colclough, from our homicide team, said: “Marian’s death is simply tragic, my thoughts are with his family and friends and this very sad time.

“We’ve had lots of help from local residents which has been crucial for our investigation – I thank everyone who has assisted so far and I’d urge anyone who hasn’t yet spoken to us, to do so as soon as possible.”
