Cost of dropping off friends and family reaches record high as fees increase at Birmingham airport.
The cost of dropping off friends and family at Birmingham Airport has reached an all-time high, with new charges coming into effect following the end of the busy summer season. The free parking period at the drop-off car park was halved last year from 20 minutes to 10 minutes, and further price increases have now been introduced.
Under the updated pricing structure, visitors using the Premium Set Down car park will now pay:
00- 15 minutes: £6.00
15 – 20 minutes: £11.00
20 – 25 minutes: £17.00
25 – 30 minutes: £23.00
30 – 35 minutes: £29.00
35 – 40 minutes: £35.00
40 – 45 minutes: £41.00
45 – 50 minutes: £47.00
50 – 55 minutes: £53.00
55 – 60 minutes: £59.00
Each additional 15 minutes will incur a further £6.00 charge.
These increases come amid concerns from passengers and local residents, who argue that the higher fees place an unnecessary burden on travelers and those simply wishing to drop off loved ones.
Birmingham Airport states that the new fees are essential for maintaining infrastructure, but the sharp rise has sparked further debate on airport accessibility and affordability.
