A man from Birmingham has been jailed for 12 years for engaging in sexual activity with a vulnerable teenage girl.
Muhammed Usman, from Bloomsbury Street, pleaded guilty to seven charges of sexual activity with a female with a mental health disorder and one charge of possessing indecent images of children.
At Birmingham Crown Court last Wednesday (15 Jan), the 39-year-old was jailed for 12 years plus 5 years extended on license. As well as being jailed Usman was placed on the sex offenders register and handed a restraining order for life.
Usman’s offending came to light on 22 June last year when we received a phone call to say he had been caught abusing a vulnerable teenage girl.
We seized his phone and discovered videos he had taken of the abuse which identified both himself and the survivor of his abuse.
Hirah Khan, from our Adult Complex Investigation team, said: “Usman took advantage of a vulnerable teenage girl for his own sexual gratification. We are pleased with the sentence which sends out a clear message that people who behave in this depraved way will be convicted and will spend many years behind bars.
“We are thankful to the survivor of his abuse and her family who helped us as we investigated right up to its successful conclusion.”
It is important to note that survivors of sexual abuse are protected by law and have life-long anonymity.
