A 20-year-old man has been sentenced to prison for his involvement in violent disorder during last summer’s unrest in Birmingham.
Muhammed Ali, of Yardley Green Road, was jailed for two years and six months after being convicted of violent disorder in Bordesley Green on August 5 last year. The disorder saw a Skoda vehicle vandalized during the incident.
Following the violence, West Midlands Police issued a public appeal to identify Ali, sharing images across their website and social media platforms. The appeal led to his arrest and subsequent prosecution.
Chief Superintendent Richard North of Birmingham Police stated: “This sentence sends a clear message that we will not tolerate violence in our communities. We are grateful to the public for their support in sharing our appeal, which played a vital role in bringing the offender to justice.”
The case highlights the police’s commitment to tackling public disorder and the importance of community cooperation in identifying those responsible for criminal acts.
