A suspected brothel in Sutton Coldfield has been closed down following a police investigation.
Officers from the West Midlands Police’s Serious Organised Crime and Exploitation Team (SOCEX) applied for a closure order on **Shangri-La**, a massage parlour on Bishops Way in Four Oaks. While the premises was advertised as a massage parlour, police believe it was being used as a brothel where women were being exploited.
On Wednesday, 10 September, officers issued a 48-hour emergency closure notice. The next day, Dudley Magistrates’ Court granted a three-month closure order, which will remain in place until 10 December.
Sgt Paul Lakey from SOCEX said, “We’re pleased the court supported our application to close this location for three months – the maximum amount of time we can apply for by law.”
He added that the closure is a key step in their ongoing investigation.
Police have stated that anyone who enters the premises risks being fined, arrested, or imprisoned.
