Two teenagers have been arrested after police recovered a firearm, ammunition, and a zombie knife during a warrant executed in Birmingham.

In the early hours of this morning, officers from West Midlands Police’s Birmingham Organised Crime and Gangs Team raided an address on Shakespear Crescent, Hockley.

Following a thorough search of the property, a firearm and associated ammunition were discovered alongside a large bladed weapon commonly referred to as a zombie knife.

A 15-year-old and a 16-year-old boy were arrested at the scene on suspicion of firearm offences. Both remain in police custody for questioning.

This operation is part of the force’s ongoing efforts under Operation Target — a wide-ranging crackdown aimed at disrupting serious and organised crime across the region.

Police say hundreds of firearms, along with substantial quantities of drugs and cash, have already been seized under the initiative. They also emphasised the importance of public information in helping to identify and target criminal activity.

A spokesperson for West Midlands Police said:
“Our teams carry out regular operations across the West Midlands to tackle organised crime. Information from the public plays a key role in helping us locate weapons and stop violence before it happens.”

Anyone with information about gang-related activity is urged to contact police via 101 or anonymously through Crimestoppers.
