Five individuals are set to appear at Birmingham Crown Court on Monday (11 Nov) in connection with the death of 33-year-old Matthew Adams, who tragically passed away following an assault in West Bromwich last year.

Mr. Adams, described by his family as a “devoted dad” and “loyal friend,” was injured in an incident at the Gough Arms, Hill Top, during the early hours of Sunday, 19 March. After attempting to recover at home in Walsall, he was taken to hospital by ambulance on 23 March but sadly died the same day.

Following an investigation, charges have been brought against Mark Shorthouse, 53, Ryan Stanley, 30, John Wise, 42, and a 16-year-old boy, all from West Bromwich, who face allegations of murder and violent disorder. Nichola Stanley, 39, also from West Bromwich, has been charged with violent disorder.

In a heartfelt tribute, Mr. Adams’ family described him as “the life and soul” of their family, with an “infectious laugh and smile.”
