A football thug is facing jail after violently attacking a teenage boy during disorder in Solihull town centre ahead of an FA Cup match.

Camron Brockman, 20, left a 16-year-old with serious facial injuries after kicking him in the face while he lay on the ground. The incident occurred near the junction of High Street and New Road shortly before the Solihull Moors vs Maidstone match on 2 November last year.

Following the shocking attack, Brockman travelled to the match and then returned home to Kent. Despite being subject to a football banning order issued in November 2024, he attended the fixture in clear breach of the order.

West Midlands Police launched a public appeal for witnesses, and information received led to Brockman being identified as the main suspect. He was later charged with wounding and pleaded guilty at court on Thursday, 10 July.

He has been remanded in custody and will be sentenced at Birmingham Crown Court on 7 August.

PC Stuart Ward, from the West Midlands Police football unit, said: “Brockman kicked the boy so hard he sustained really nasty facial injuries. He had come to Solihull to watch the game, knowing full well he was banned from doing so.

“He effectively volleyed the teenager in the face and thanks to information from the public, we were able to identify him as responsible for the attack.

“Football has no place for any form of violence and West Midlands Police will actively pursue those responsible. Brockman has already been warned at court he now faces a prison term for his appalling actions.”
