The West Midlands is set to make history this Christmas with a unique initiative: free weekday evening bus travel.

Between Monday 9th December and Friday 13th December all of the region’s buses will be free to use from 7pm onwards, with passengers able to simply hop onboard and travel anywhere across the West Midlands bus network.

This groundbreaking move, spearheaded by the Mayor of the West Midlands, Richard Parker, aims to encourage people to ditch their cars and embrace public transport during the festive season. The initiative is designed to alleviate traffic congestion, reduce carbon emissions, and support local businesses.

By offering free bus travel, the Mayor hopes to entice people to explore the region’s vibrant cities and towns, enjoy festive shopping, theater performances, and dining experiences. This initiative aligns with the Mayor’s broader vision of improving public transportation and making it more accessible to all.

Transport for West Midlands (TfWM) and National Express West Midlands will be on hand to assist passengers and ensure the smooth operation of the free travel scheme.

This exciting initiative is part of the West Midlands Bus Service Improvement Plan (BSIP), which aims to revitalize bus services and encourage more people to choose public transport.
