Police have made almost a dozen arrests for violence, possessing weapons and online threats as officers continue to keep our communities safe amid recent unrest across the UK.
Police have taken swift action to detain and charge suspects as officers seek to stop those who cause harm, fear and distress to others.
Within the last week police have taken a man to court after seizing weapons from Northfield, WMP have charged another man after a glass was thrown at a police officer responding to a large gathering in Solihull; and two other men after investigating threatening videos which were posted online and appeared to promote violence.
Police said:
Our message is clear: police will not tolerate disorder in our towns and cities or those who use social media to encourage criminal acts.
WM Police did sadly see some disorder in Bordesley Green last Monday evening (5 August) which led to a man being assaulted, damage caused to a pub and also a vehicle.
We have dedicated officers working on this investigation and we’ve already arrested five people on suspicion of violent disorder, and charged another man with possession of a weapon.
We continue to review all available material and are now issuing images of other suspects we’re looking to identify, as what occurred was unacceptable and can never be condoned.
