In preparation for the upcoming holy month of Ramadan, a mother and daughter team from Himaya Haven, a leading non-profit organization, delivered 250 Prayer Mats and Qurans to Birmingham prison The packages will be distributed to Muslim prisoners in need of these items throughout the month of Ramadan.
Razia Hadait MBE, a representative of Himaya Haven, spoke to Birmingham Times and shared her thoughts on the project.
Hadait emphasized that Muslim prisoners are often forgotten and that the project aims to help rehabilitate them and remind them that they are not alone. She also praised the prison Imams for their brilliant work in rehabilitating the men and young boys.
Himaya Haven has been supporting over a thousand Muslim prisoners and their families for three years and has been undertaking fundraising and deliver Ramadan welfare packs to prisons across the region. During their visit to Birmingham Prison, the team met with some of the prisoners and listened to their stories. They also expressed their gratitude for the welfare packs they received.
The efforts of Himaya Haven, the mother and daughter team, and the volunteers, donors, and community members who have supported them, will have a significant impact on the lives of the Muslim prisoners and their families. The dedication and determination of the prison Imams in rehabilitating the prisoners is an inspiration to all.
