Police have launched an investigation after a man was shot in the leg in Oldbury last night (13 June).
Officers were sent to reports of a shooting involving two cars on St. Johns Road just after 7.30pm. On arrival both cars had left, but there was a significant amount of blood on the pavement.
A 20-year-old man, who had been shot in the leg, turned up at hospital a short time later. Although his injury is potentially life-threatening, he’s in a stable condition and has spoken to officers.
The area was taped off last night and blue tents erected in order to preserve evidence and allow forensics to conduct a full examination of the scene this morning (Sunday).
House to house and CCTV enquiries will continue today, and anyone with information about what happened and who has not yet spoken to police should get in touch.
Detective Inspector Ade George, said: “We’re making good progress with the investigation, but it’s still in the early stages and we’re keeping an open mind regarding the circumstances and motive. “I’d like to reassure the local community that we’ll be working all hours to find out what happened. Our priority is to find out who is responsible and take the appropriate action to bring them to justice.”
