Police secure three-month closure order for High Street business after crime reports
A shop in Kings Heath has been forced to close for three months after repeated community concerns about crime and anti-social behaviour led to police intervention.
The Tic Tac shop, located on the High Street, was the subject of numerous complaints from local residents. Acting on these concerns, officers from Birmingham Police, in collaboration with Trading Standards, secured a closure order through the courts.
The order, effective immediately, prevents anyone from entering the premises until midnight on 29 October. Breaching the order could result in fines, arrest, or even imprisonment.
Inspector Neil Kirkpatrick of Birmingham Police said:
“We received numerous complaints about this store, and we worked with partners including Trading Standards to take decisive action.
The order will hopefully provide relief to the community and serve as a deterrent to any other businesses involved in criminality.”
Neighbourhood officers, including PC Batchelor and the Moseley and Kings Heath team, were instrumental in building the case and achieving the closure.
The police have urged residents to continue reporting concerns. You can contact them via Live Chat on the West Midlands Police website or by calling 101.
