A man has been arrested after allegedly stealing a 24-tonne earthmover and driving it through Wolverhampton city centre, causing significant damage to roads and street furniture.
Police were alerted on Saturday (8 November) following reports that the heavy construction vehicle had been stolen from an address in Staffordshire.
Officers tracked the earthmover as it crossed into Wolverhampton, where it was spotted shortly before 5.40pm. Despite attempts to stop the vehicle, it continued moving through several city streets, including Bridgnorth Road, Compton Road West, and even onto the A4150 dual carriageway.
The pursuit came to an end on New Road, Willenhall, at around 8.15pm when the vehicle finally stopped.
