A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder following the death of a man in Birmingham.
Police launched a murder investigation after 24-year-old Hazratgul Ahmadzai was found with serious injuries at a property in Alum Rock Road on Friday (5 September). Despite the efforts of emergency services, he could not be saved.
This morning (Sunday), officers arrested a 24-year-old man in Dorset. He remains in custody and will be questioned by detectives later today.
Mr Ahmadzai’s family have paid tribute to him, describing him as “a very kind man” who was “well respected and well thought of.” They said:
“He was a very kind man, everyone loved him and will miss him. He did not deserve this terrible thing to happen to him. We will miss him every day.”
Detective Inspector Nick Barnes, from the Homicide Team, said:
“I want to say thank you to the public for sharing our appeal over the last couple of days. Information from the public has helped us locate this individual who will now be questioned on suspicion of murder.
“Our thoughts remain with Mr Ahmadzai’s family and we will continue to support them at this difficult time.”
