Six men convicted of possession of offensive weapons and violent disorder which broke out in Coventry city centre in September 2018 – leading to the death of Fidel Glasgow – have been sentenced to more than 17 years in jail.
Fidel was 21 at the time and was fatally stabbed near to Club M on Croft Road in the early hours of 1 September 2018 − he died in hospital a few hours later. No-one has yet been charged with his murder.
Last year a series of men were charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm against a 23-year-old man who was taken to hospital with serious injuries from which he has since recovered. However the man has now left the country and cannot be traced, therefore charges relating to him have been withdrawn.
Today, each have been sentenced as follows:
• Pa Gaye, aged 24 of Harnalls Lane East, Stoke – violent disorder and possession of an offensive weapon – jailed for two years and nine months.
• Michael Mistouflet, aged 25 of James Galloway Close – violent disorder and possession of an offensive weapon – jailed for four years.
• Adil Naseer, aged 25 of Park Street, Foleshill – violent disorder – jailed for three years and two months.
• Jiguael Botamba, aged 23 of Little Duke Street, Nuneaton − violent disorder and possession of an offensive weapon – jailed for a year and six months.
• Andrea Boadi, aged 23 of Lansdowne Street, Ball Hill − violent disorder – jailed for three years and four months.
• Harrison Asiedu, aged 29 of North Street, Stoke − violent disorder – jailed for two years and four months.
• Brian Kamau, aged 33, Brendon Gama, aged 24 and Mohammed Amadu, aged 22, will be sentenced in relation to violent disorder at a later date.
A 24-year-old man was previously jailed for four-and-a-half years.
Detective Inspector Michelle Allen said: “This was extreme violence which involved the use of knives and other weapons. We won’t tolerate such unacceptable and dangerous behaviour on the streets of the West Midlands.
“This violent disorder led to the tragic death of a young man. We are still actively investigating Fidel’s murder and we remain in contact with his family to keep them fully updated with developments.
“Although these convictions are not in relation to the attack on Fidel, it is our dearest wish to hold someone to account for his death and we will follow any new leads.
“We continue to ask anyone with information, no matter how insignificant it may seem, to come forward. “
