Investors, developers, and local and national government leaders unite to drive forward ambitions to create 1.5 million homes across this Parliament
Yesterday in London, over 375 leaders from institutional investors, developers, housebuilders, regeneration specialists, housing associations, and local authorities met with a shared aim of forging partnerships to expand housebuilding and regeneration efforts throughout England.
The event, organised by the Ministry for Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG) alongside Homes England, is part of a broader government strategy to attract private investment into housing development and urban renewal across the country.
Baroness Taylor, the Minister for Housing and Local Government, highlighted the government’s commitment to build 1.5 million new homes over the next five years. She noted, “Our ambition to deliver 1.5 million homes over the next five years will require significant investment, and that’s why we’re working closely with investors, local leaders, and communities to unlock the capital needed to get Britain building again.”
This event marks the latest step in the government’s regeneration efforts, building on billions already secured to revitalise towns and cities. Peter Freeman, Chair of Homes England, emphasised the importance of strong partnerships and sustained investment, stating, “We will need bold leadership, significant and sustained investment, and a range of innovative public and private sector partnerships that will deliver schemes of all sizes across England.”
The discussions signal a united commitment to achieving the ambitious housing targets and meeting the demand for thriving communities. This initiative is poised to lay the groundwork for new and transformative housing developments across the country.
