Police Appeal for Witnesses After Attempted Robbery and Assault in Sheldon

West Midlands Police have issued an urgent appeal for information following an attempted robbery and assault in Sheldon, Birmingham. The incident occurred on Coventry Road at approximately 11:00 AM on Sunday, February 2nd.

According to a police press release, a man attempted to snatch a woman’s purse in broad daylight. When a passer-by intervened to help the victim, the suspect allegedly assaulted the Good Samaritan before fleeing the scene.

Investigators have released an image of a man they wish to speak to in connection with the incident. Authorities are urging anyone who recognizes the individual or has any information about the crime to come forward.

Detective Constable John Smith, who is leading the investigation, stated, “This was a brazen attack in a busy area, and we believe there may have been witnesses who saw what happened. We are particularly keen to speak to anyone who was on Coventry Road around the time of the incident or who may have dashcam or CCTV footage.”
