A sixth teenager has been charged in connection with the fatal stabbing of 18-year-old Zeshan Afzal in Smethwick.

The 17-year-old boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons due to his age, has been charged with murder and is due to appear before Wolverhampton Youth Court on Friday (7 March).

The charge relates to the death of Zeshan, who was found with serious injuries in Oldbury Road following disorder shortly before 9pm on 20 February. Despite the efforts of emergency services, the 18-year-old later died from his injuries.

Police have already charged five other teenagers as part of the ongoing investigation. A further 16-year-old boy who was arrested has since been released on bail while enquiries continue.

Detectives say the investigation remains active and have urged anyone with information that could assist the case to come forward, as officers continue to seek justice for Zeshan and his family.
