A third teenager has been charged in connection with the fatal stabbing of 17-year-old Reuben Higgins on Station Road, Marston Green, Solihull. Abdurrahman Summers, 18, from Yardley, faces charges of murder and possession of a bladed article. He is scheduled to appear before Birmingham Magistrates Court tomorrow (Saturday) for his initial hearing.
Reuben’s family has released a heartfelt statement expressing their grief: “Reuben was a loving son, grandson, brother, nephew, and cousin who will be dearly missed by his family and friends. Life will never be the same without him.”
This brings the total number of teenagers charged with Reuben’s murder to three. Two 15-year-old boys, who cannot be named for legal reasons, were previously charged with murder and possession of a bladed article.
Detective Inspector Michelle Cordell from the Homicide Team confirmed, “Reuben’s parents have been fully updated with the latest development and continue to be supported by specially trained officers. Our thoughts remain with his family and loved ones at this incredibly difficult time.”
