Three Arrested After Man Carjacked at Knifepoint in Birmingham

Police have charged three individuals following a harrowing carjacking incident that occurred on Short Heath Road in Birmingham last Saturday afternoon.

At approximately 2:20 PM on January 18, a man was forcibly removed from his vehicle at knifepoint by the suspects. The assailants threatened him with a knife, demanding that he exit the car. The victim complied, and the perpetrators took off in his vehicle.

Law enforcement swiftly responded to the incident, deploying both traffic and firearms teams to track the stolen car. During the pursuit, the stolen vehicle rammed into two police cars, prompting a brief chase through the area. The pursuit concluded safely when the car was brought to a stop.

Three individuals were apprehended at the scene, and authorities recovered a knife from inside the stolen vehicle. The suspects face multiple charges, including aggravated vehicle taking, dangerous driving, and possession of a weapon.

Charged Individuals:

Steven Hurlstone, 39, of Birmingham, has been charged with aggravated vehicle taking, dangerous driving, driving without insurance, and operating a vehicle without a valid license.

Daniel Bree, 36, of Birmingham, faces charges of robbery, possession of a knife in a public place, driving while disqualified, and driving without insurance.

Jodie Sivviter, 35, of Birmingham, is charged with aggravated vehicle taking and dangerous driving.

All three individuals are scheduled to appear before Birmingham Magistrates today, January 20.

Police commend the swift action of their teams in recovering the stolen vehicle and ensuring the safety of the public. Authorities continue to investigate the motives behind the carjacking and are urging anyone with additional information to come forward.
