Three men have been jailed for their roles in a violent knife attack on two victims in Coventry last year.
Said Raza, 20, Hanif Rahman, 21, and Emal Ahmadzi, 21, targeted the men in Stoney Stanton Road on 11 October 2024. CCTV footage captured Ahmadzi slashing at one victim with a large blade, while Raza kicked their legs and attacked them again as they tried to flee, causing them to fall into the road. Rahman, also armed with a knife, advanced towards the victims throughout the assault.
The trio were arrested two days later in Coventry city centre. Raza and Ahmadzi attempted to run from officers, while Rahman was detained carrying an axe. Despite claiming he had only picked up the knife to prevent its use, Rahman was convicted at Warwick Crown Court following a trial. Raza and Ahmadzi admitted their offences.
They were sentenced last Friday as follows:
Hanif Rahman, of Rye Hill, Coventry – five years for wounding, possession of a bladed article, and possession of an offensive weapon.
Emal Ahmadzi, of Skelmersdale, Lancashire – four years and six months for wounding and possession of a bladed article.
Said Raza, of Emscote Road, Warwick – four years and nine months for wounding and possession of a bladed article.
Police have reiterated their commitment to tackling knife crime and bringing violent offenders to justice.
