Top 10 Most Perilous Zones in Birmingham Revealed

New data from West Midlands Police has identified the areas in Birmingham with the highest crime rates in 2022. From theft and drug offenses to violent crimes, the data, which records every incident reported to the force, provides an insight into each area’s challenges.

According to the latest figures, Birmingham city centre had the highest crime rate, with a shocking 16,277 incidents reported last year, equivalent to an average of 44 crimes every day. Lozells and East Handsworth followed closely behind with 5,814 incidents recorded, equating to an average of 16 crimes per day.

Other areas that featured in the top ten ‘worst’ zones include Aston, Acocks Green, Shard End, South Yardley, Small Heath, Highgate, Stockland Green, Washwood Heath, and Tyburn.

These areas each reported over 4,000 incidents in 2022, with offenses ranging from burglaries, weapon possession, to shoplifting.

Violent and sexual crimes were also prevalent in several areas, including Aston, Birmingham city centre, Lozells and East Handsworth, Shard End, South Yardley, Stockland Green, and Washwood Heath. These crimes encompassed a range of offenses, from common assault and sex abuse to grievous bodily harm and rape.
