Two Arrested Following Violent Disorder Outside Birmingham Mosque; Police Confirm Incident Not Linked to Mosque

Two individuals have been arrested on suspicion of violent disorder after police responded to reports of a fight outside a mosque in Small Heath, Birmingham.

The incident occurred on St Oswalds Road at approximately 5:15 PM on Sunday, March 2.

Upon arrival, officers arrested a 16-year-old boy on suspicion of violent disorder. A 29-year-old man was also taken into custody on suspicion of violent disorder and assaulting an emergency worker. Both individuals remain in police custody for questioning.

Authorities confirmed that no serious injuries were reported during the incident. Investigations are ongoing, with police reviewing CCTV footage to determine the circumstances surrounding the altercation.

Chief Inspector Haroon Chughtai of Birmingham Police addressed community concerns, stating,

“We have carried out enquiries and after speaking with various members of the community, and after initial CCTV enquiries, we are satisfied that the incident is not linked to the mosque.”

He added, “We understand the concerns of the community, and we will be carrying out reassurance patrols in the area.”
