Two men are facing jail after a drive-by shooting on West Bromwich High Street left a man seriously injured.
The attack happened at the junction of West Bromwich High Street and Trinity Way when the driver of a black Vauxhall Mokka fired two shots towards a white VW Golf waiting to turn right.
The first shot missed, but the second shattered the Golf’s rear windscreen. The victim, a man in his 20s, drove himself to Midland Met Hospital, where he was treated for shotgun injuries to his shoulder and the back of his head. Thankfully, he survived the attack.
Detectives from the Major Crime Unit reviewed hours of CCTV footage and identified the suspects and the cars involved. Officers found that 22-year-old **Adyan Hussain**, from Salisbury Road, West Bromwich, was driving the Mokka and fired the shots.
Around half an hour before the attack, **Naveed Hussain**, also 22, from Ida Road, West Bromwich, dropped Adyan off on Leopard Lane in another vehicle. Adyan then changed the Mokka’s number plates before the shooting, which took place around 11.30am on 1 May this year.
After the attack, the car was abandoned in Oldbury. The next day, both men returned to the vehicle and changed its number plates again.
At Wolverhampton Crown Court on 6 October, Adyan Hussain admitted **possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life**, and Naveed Hussain admitted **assisting an offender**. They will be sentenced on 20 October.
Detective Inspector Francis Nock said: “This was a violent attack on a busy High Street that could easily have killed someone. It’s worrying that people think they can use such violence on our streets, but our team worked tirelessly to bring them to justice.”
Police continue to target gun and gang crime across the West Midlands under **Operation Target**, which aims to disrupt and arrest those involved in serious and organised crime.
