Ninety-one per cent of parents have been offered a place for their child in Reception at their first choice primary school in Sandwell.

Parents applying for school places were being notified today (Friday 16 April), either by email or letter, which school their child will be starting at in September 2021.

Nearly 97 percent of parents have been offered one of their top three preferences, and those who didn’t get one of those preferences are still offered a place for their child at another Sandwell school. No child will be left without a school place.

Lesley Hagger, Sandwell Council’s executive director of children’s services, said: “More than 4,100 children have been offered a school place at one of their parents’ top preferences in Reception.

“Due to the latest coronavirus lockdown, the team has adapted their processes and worked very hard to make sure parents were offered school places on time.

“With nearly 97 percent of parents getting one of their top preferences of school, we know the vast majority will be very happy with their school place offer in Sandwell.”
