A Birmingham man has been jailed for eight and a half years for firearms and drugs offences.

A firearms warrant was executed at the home address of Jelani Selassie in Lees Street, Winson Green on 15 September last year.

Officers searching the 34-year-old’s bedroom found three viable and loaded firearms secreted inside the lining of the bed.

The search further revealed ammunition, around £15,000 worth of cocaine, over £3000 worth of cannabis and cash.

Selassie pleaded guilty on 5 March to three counts of possession of a prohibited weapon (six years for each offence to run concurrently), possession of ammunition (two years concurrent), possession with intent to class B drugs (12 months concurrent) and possession with intent to supply class A drugs (two and a half years consecutive). He was sentenced at Birmingham Crown Court yesterday (9 May).
