Smethwick Man Charged After Police Recover Combat Knife in Stop-and-Search

An 18-year-old man has been charged with possession of a knife after police recovered a weapon during a stop-and-search in Smethwick.

Jayden Thompson, of Smethwick, was arrested after officers seized a combat-style knife on Cuin Road on the evening of Tuesday, May 28. He has since been charged and is set to appear at Dudley Magistrates’ Court next month.

West Midlands Police have reiterated their commitment to tackling knife crime, urging the public to report anyone carrying weapons.

A spokesperson said: “We take knife crime and weapon possession extremely seriously. If you have information about someone carrying a weapon, please get in touch with us via 101, online, or anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”

The arrest follows ongoing efforts by police to curb violent crime in the region. Authorities continue to encourage community cooperation to ensure public safety.
