Appeal after man shot at on Handsworth road

Police are appealing for information after a man sustained an gunshot injury to his leg as he walked down a Handsworth road on Wednesday (27 May).

A 33-year-old man was taken to hospital with injuries consistent with being caused by a firearm after he was shot at from the window of a property on Rookery Road just after 7am. He remains in hospital today (Friday 29 May) in a stable condition.

Sergeant Nicholas McCullogh from the force CID team, said: “I am asking anyone who heard or noticed anything suspicious in the area to contact us. “We are in the early stages of this investigation and I am keen to hear from anyone who has any information that could support us in finding out who or what caused the man’s fractured leg.”
