Police are appealing for information after intruders forced their way into a pensioner’s house in Stourbridge in the early hours of Tuesday (3 November).

A 79-year-old man was awoken just before 1.30am when he heard glass smashing. He went to have a look and was faced with three unknown men in his house.

They hit him, but fortunately he didn’t sustain any injuries. Police believe the men were trying to find the keys to his Mercedes car parked on his drive, but they left without anything.

Detectives investigating the burglary have released video footage from inside his house in a bid to trace the offenders.

Sergeant Leighton Shingles from the Force CID team, said: “I am urging anyone who recognises these men to get in touch with us as soon as possible. Perhaps you even noticed something suspicious in the area.

“It’s important we find those responsible for frightening an elderly man and causing him unnecessary stress and anxiety during an already difficult time for people.”
